Our Goals

The objectives of Portrait College shape our vision and guide our mission. We believe they will equip and disciple college students to practice and portray the way of Jesus together on their campus and throughout the world.

  • Connection to the Local Church

We want students to develop a rooted love for and commitment to the local church.

    We desire them to:

    • Cultivate both a love and a felt need for the local church.
    • Learn how to identify the marks of a healthy church should they transition from Portrait.
    • Build connections with the church rooted in friendship and fun.

  • Framework for Following Jesus

We want students to gain clarity on what discipleship is and have confidence to share that with others.

Our desire is that they will be able to:

    • Identify and articulate what it means to be a disciple.
    • Adopt Portrait’s framework for following Jesus as a guide for their own spiritual growth.
    • Learn how to share their faith and this framework with others, multiplying disciples.
  • Join God’s Kingdom Mission

We desire students to embody and live out a biblical vision of God’s Kingdom.

Here’s what we believe about the Kingdom:

    • The Kingdom is wherever and whenever God gets what He wants.
    • The Kingdom is God’s reign (rule or sovereignty), not primarily a place or people. It is His dynamic rule breaking into history through Jesus, bringing salvation, healing, and authority over evil. — George Ladd
    • The Kingdom of God is God’s sovereign activity in the world, resulting in people being in right relationship with Himself. — Vance Pitman

    We desire the students to:

    • Understand that they carry Kingdom authority wherever they live, work, and play.
    • Recognize that the Kingdom includes every socioeconomic group, ethnicity, and nation—it does not skip over any lines.
  • When and where does Portrait College meet?

We meet once a month on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm at 520 Brookside Ave.
